I used mixed ...
I used mixed berries: blue berries, strawberries, raspberries - and strawberry preserves. I'm vegan, don't? use butter, so I used Earth Balance Buttery Spread instead.They turned out delicious.
If you try this with any kind on non-dairy butter, just be sure to keep it freezing cold, and to roll dough on a very cold counter (put ice packs on it to make it cold). Non dairy butter gets softer faster than regular butter.
You will also need to add flour more often, when rolling it out. I love these!

Well, I made these yesterday and was surprised that I was only able to get 4 tarts out of the recipe - not 8. I did not measure the pastry rectangles though and only estimated the correct size, but I rolled it out the thinnest I could without it beginning to tear.
I guess mine were a little larger than the ones in this recipe.
They are really small "hand" pies, or tarts, or like mini pies - and? easier to make than a large pie. I used mixed berries...comment continued...
